Year 13 Police Studies Land Search and Rescue (SAR) experience

Earlier this month the Year 13 Police Studies class were visited by Land SAR expert and co-ordinator, Senior Constable Brendon McCarthy, accompanied by Senior Constable Ian Willetts.

Through a presentation students learnt about the work the Land SAR undertake and pathway opportunities within the New Zealand Police. The practical aspects included assembling a stretcher and using a rope and a pulley system to rescue injured parties from a bush like setting.

This visit was held in conjunction with providing students with an opportunity to plan a career pathway within the New Zealand Police.
