1980s

Nigel is a Technical Editor and Specification Writer. After a couple of gap years, he started a career in the building industry and worked his way up through building prefabrication, draughtsman, then building design/project management. Nigel worked in London for 10 years, returning to Auckland in 2007. He has a New Zealand Certificate in Architectural Draughting and a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture.
Keith was a Royal Air Force Officer and Pilot for 16 years, and a Cathay Pacific Airways Captain for 15 years.
He is now an apprentice technician at Fisher & Paykel.
Sandy is a Regional Manager - Professional Services and Client Solutions at Beyond Recruitment.
Over the years Sandy has owned businesses and worked in many different fields. She was the President of the New Zealand Parrot Society for a number of years.
Julie works as a Tax Accountant. She previously worked for a New Zealand Merchant bank and studied part time before moving to Australia in 1998. Julie is also a Justice of the Peace and enjoys backyard beekeeping.
After school Melanie graduated with a Diploma in Pharmacy from the Central Institute of Technology, Wellington. She spent some time working in the UK as a Pharmacist, before purchasing her first Pharmacy in Papakura. She purchased a larger Pharmacy in Papakura a few years later. More recently Melanie has been working as a Pharmacist Locum and a COVID vaccinator.
Mark started as an apprentice butcher. He went on to own three retail business in Australia. And is now an owner and manager of a butchers shop.
Steve is Senior Actuarial Analyst at Partners Life. He spent 10 years as a Biostatistician at the Auckland University of Technology, and has produced academic publications in a variety of health research topics.
Peter Chapman (1980 - 1984)
Peter is currently a Director at Virgin Media O2. He completed a Bachelor of Arts and Diploma in Broadcast Communication from The University of Auckland.
Lynne is currently an Organisational Communication consultant. During her time at Macleans College from October 1980 to November 1990 she was Head of English, Deputy House Leader of Rutherford, and worked in the areas of Library, Drama and the annual magazine production. From the end of 1990 until 2011 Lynne then worked in tertiary education as a Senior Lecturer, Head of Department and Academic Faculty Manager.
Lisa Cooper nee Gardiner (Te Kanawa House 1981 - 1983)
Since leaving school Lisa has held a variety of roles including building and installing computer systems, PA to a Director of a civil survey and structural engineering firm, working in a cattery, caring for her father and raising a family. Lisa is currently working part time as a medical receptionist.
Neil completed a Bachelor of Engineering at The University of Auckland and then commenced travelling. He has worked in the Alumina and Iron Ore industries in Perth, and worked in Mineral Sands in the USA. Neil now manages and delivers a range of mineral processing projects across Western Australia. He has over 30 years experience as a Mechanical Engineer. Neil manages and operates Gymnastics clubs in his spare time.
Stephanie is a Specialist Medical Recruiter and a carer for her elderly father. She initially worked in the banking and finance industry before moving into the health and disability field. Stephanie has spent time as a maternity health care assistant and a case manager at ACC. She completed a Diploma in Health Case Management from The University of Auckland.
Cheryl is the Head of New Zealand Payroll and Credit Management/Debt Recovery at Fletcher Building. After school, Cheryl started out in back office support before moving into transformation and senior management roles. She graduated from the University of West London with a First Class Honours Degree in Business, and spent 20 years in London, working in insurance, professional services and telecoms industries before moving back to New Zealand.
Louise works as a consultant and has experience in Interior Design, Apparel & Fashion Industry in London and New Zealand, Church leadership and consultancy in political media platforms.
Murray is a Team Leader with the New Zealand Aviation Security Service (AVSEC). After finishing school he took a cadetship with Fletcher Residential as a Quantity Surveyor. After being made redundant, he joined the RNZAF as a Policeman. He left the RNZAF in 2003 and then joined AVSEC. Murray is proud to have served in the military, which included deployments to Rwanda in 1994 and East Timor in 2000. He was also heavily involved in the MIQ start-ups as part of the New Zealand government response to Covid. Murray also volunteers at his local St John shop.
Elette is a Site Manager for a COVID Quarantine Facility. She has spent time working overseas and within public service.
Suzi worked in administration and IT after school. She then retained as a Counsellor while working fulltime. In 2014 she became a self employed Counsellor and Family Therapist.
Lonaye is a teacher based in Dunedin. After school she attended Auckland College of Education. Her first teaching position was at Howick Primary and other local schools, until a move south three years ago.
Julie is the Executive Director of Ausdance QLD, a membership organisation providing advocacy and industry development for Queensland dance. Julie studied law and music at The University of Auckland and graduated music. She then moved to Australia where she began selling pianos, then specialised in in Steinway & Sons and managed this company in Australia for 12 years, including institutional management and artist management/ concert production. Julie spent time managing an independent contemporary arts centre in Singapore, and a national children’s charity in Brisbane before returning to the arts – firstly at the Brisbane Arts Theatre and now Ausdance.
Anne works as a Pharmacist. After school she studied at CIT and worked in retail pharmacy and a hospital pharmacy in the United Kingdom.
Ingrid is a Member of Parliament, for the electorate of Taieri in South Otago.
Lisa is a trained paramedic. She studied as a registered nurse and worked in this field before training as a paramedic. Lisa worked on the road for 24 years, and with Healthline in tele-triage for the last two and a half years. She is currently studying canine hydrotherapy with the goal to start up her own business at home rehabbing dogs after injury and surgery. For over ten years Lisa volunteered as a coach for Riding for the Disabled, ran an at-risk youth programme with horses, and rescues and rehabs horses and other animals from her farm in Kaikohe.
Deb is a Project Manager for FENZ (Fire and Emergency New Zealand). She obtained a Master of Science from Otago University. Deb has worked as a Forensic Scientist for New Zealand Police, in Justice System and Electoral Commission management roles, and for the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Deb received a New Zealand Special Services Award for her Disaster Identification work in Phuket after the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami.
Aron Neale aka Jesse Wilde is a singer, songwriter, performer and owner operator of Wilde Records Recording Studios/Studio 38 Event Space and TV Studios. With his wife Cath, he also owns a property investment company called Wildfaith Investments Ltd. After school Aron studied Quantity Surveying at Unitech. Aron has played music professionally since he was 17 years old. After being signed to a record label in New Zealand he travelled the world and got to see his main song writing influences in the US. A song which Aron wrote for his grandfather called “Song for Sam (Blood is Love)” was featured on the TV show The Brokenwood Mysteries. Aron was nominated for Best Music Producer and Best Audio Engineer at the 2019 Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards.
Kirstin is a Teacher Aide at Tauranga Intermediate School. After leaving school Kirstin worked in a law firm, starting as an office junior then as PA to the General Manager. Kirstin held various PA roles before becoming a mum. She volunteers for the deaf community and has started a local parents group in the Bay of Plenty.
After school Juliette pursued overseas opportunities and worked her way up in various finance companies. She is now a Sales Manager in wholesale funding for Commonwealth Bank, Australia.
Richard works in sales at Pearce Brothers, car dealership. After school he attended university for two years before changing direction and working as a surveyors assistant at Wellington City Council and as a clerk at Power and Marine Auckland City. Richard then moved into sales and made it a career.
After school Katy spent time studying fashion design and worked in administration, accounts, real estate sales and was a Vodafone Business Owner for 10 years. Katy took a mid-life career change and is now working in the dynamic steel manufacturing industry as a Machine Operator at Steelserv. Katy is the co-chair of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee at Bluescope New Zealand. As a side-hustle, Katy is building a business that she hopes will give all children the chance to become the best versions of themselves regardless of the inequities life hands them.
Kim is the Senior Brand Manager of Healtheries at Vitaco Health Group. She graduated from The University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Commerce and has worked for various businesses including Cerebos Gregg’s, Pernod Ricard London, and Cooks Global.
Jon is a professional Sailor. He worked as a sailmaker after leaving school. Jon then went overseas and began racing professionally. He took part in the Volvo Ocean Race 2001-2002 and is a five time World Champion.
Carla is a fully registered Early Childcare Teacher. She obtained a Bachelor of Education from Manukau Institute of Technology. Carla has twice volunteered in Uganda at Watoto Children’s Home (orphanage) and Hands for Hope (Namuwongo slum). She recently organised a Ukraine garage sale fundraiser with all proceeds being sent to people in Ukraine.
Stephen gained a Bachelor of Engineering from The University of Auckland. He went on to gain over twenty years of business, technology, managerial, and supply chain experience. Stephen is currently a Vice President of Sales in the Taiwan semiconductor industry.
Henry is a Brew Master and founder of Gourmet Espresso. After school he worked in a number of different industries including accounting, sales, tourism, journalism, farm management and exporting gourmet consumer products. Henry then developed a palate and appetite for anything gourmet-taste related. Henry invented the Ice Brew extraction method for specialty coffee and related elements. He won the Australian International Coffee Award in 2020.
Following school Melanie completed a Certificate in Office Systems at Manukau Institute of Technology. She started working as an Office Clerk, then went on to be a Secretary, before moving up to be a Personal Assistant and is now an Executive Assistant for Indevin Group.
Michael is the CEO and founder of Buzzebees, the largest customer relationship management company in Asia. After school he attended The University of Auckland, worked for KPMG and then built start-up companies.
Matthew is a Senior Lecturer and Clinical Exercise Physiologist at Auckland University of Technology. He obtained a Diploma in Sport and Recreation Management, and a Masters of Health Science from Auckland University of Technology.
Simon is the Head of Communications at McDonald’s NZ. He graduated from the Auckland University of Technology with a Bachelor of Communications. Simon has won several public relations industry awards, including the supreme award from the Public Relations Institute of NZ.
Nicky is the Principal Engineer at the National Acoustic Laboratories, Sydney. Nicky graduated from The University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Engineering and completed a PhD at the University of Wollongong. A highlight job for Nicky was working at AT&T Bell Labs in New Jersey, USA. NALscribe is an app developed by Nicky to help people with hearing loss have easier conversations, especially when masks are worn. Nicky has 10 US patents to her name, has published journal publications and has received Hearing Australia and NAL innovation and research excellence awards.
Vanessa is the director of www.ricemi.nz. She has a PhD from University of Melbourne. Vanessa was awarded a Philip Wrightson Postdoctoral Fellowship, Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) Short-term Research Scholarship and has published 36 academic publications. She volunteered for The University of Auckland and University of Melbourne Alumni mentoring. Vanessa spent time as a senior researcher and human science research manager at The University of Auckland.

1990s

Otto is currently a Technical Solution Specialist at Intel. He obtained a Bachelor and Master degree from The University of Auckland, then joined Intel to support Asia Pacific as a Product Engineer. He has remained at Intel in many different roles.
Bo is the Director of three businesses – Promo Factory, Fundraise Factory and Cleave House. She is also a Howick Local Board Member. After school Bo worked as an office junior and then undertook an overseas experience. Upon returning home she started a business with her mother and 20 years later they continue to run two companies together. Two years ago Bo campaigned for a position on the Howick Local Board and was voted in on her first attempt.
Amy is the Area Site Management Lead for AbbVie Ltd, a Pharmaceutical Manufacturing company. After school Amy attended the Auckland University of Technology and graduated with a Bachelor of Health Science (Nursing) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Adult Health Nursing. Amy obtained a Master of Science with distinction from City University, London, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Practice from King’s College London. Amy is a registered New Zealand nurse and has worked in New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom.
Dr Yiu is the Director of VECA Medical Health Centre in Auckland. He graduated from the Medical School of University of Otago in 2003. Before becoming a GP, he worked as a surgical and trauma registrar in Melbourne and Mildura in Australia. Dr Yiu has worked as a GP since 2008 in New Zealand and Melbourne and has been a Fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioner since 2012. He worked in Hong Kong for 8 years as a Family Physician from 2012 to 2020 and was appointed as tutor for Hong Kong College of Family Physician Diploma of Family Medicine and Shunde Certificate of Family Medicine.
Samantha is a business owner at The Cosmetic Clinic. After school she first joined the air force and trained as a chef. She moved to Germany and worked in a restaurant. On her return home she changed career paths to Beauty Therapy. Samantha was a teacher at Elite International School of Beauty for 12 years and now owns her business which specialises in cosmetic injectables, laser hair removal and skin treatments.
Chris is the Senior Principal Engineer at Dell EMC. He graduated from The University of New South Wales with a Computer Engineering degree.
David achieved a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Sydney. He has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 12+ years, and is currently the Chief Scientific Officer at Novartis in Taiwan. During his time in Sydney David was a Patrol Captain at the Coogee Surf Life Saving Club, and volunteered for the NSW State Emergency Service.
Kaajal is currently a Partner at KPMG Australia. She studied a Bachelor of Commerce and Law at The University of Auckland and is a Chartered Accountant.
After leaving school Albert studied to complete a business degree while working full time in IT. He then moved into product management for Samsung and Allegion. Albert is now Director of Electronic Platforms & Software at Allegion International (one of the largest manufacturers of door hardware in the world) where he leads teams across the globe.
Callum is a Principal Network Architect at Devoli – New Zealand’s 6th largest ISP. He studied a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance. Callum then worked at Telecom, creating the ADSL/Broadband project, before working with a few smaller ISP’s and then starting Vibe Communications (now called Devoli) who are a wholesaler and sell to some of New Zealand’s biggest brands.
Michael is a Financial Adviser at Money Empire. He started study at The University of Auckland, but stopped halfway to move to Japan to teach English. On his return home he studied Accounting at the Auckland University of Technology, while he started working in Accounts. Michael worked in the Accounting industry for 10 years – across SME’s, big corporates, council and IRD. Six years ago he moved into the Finance industry and worked for enable.me.
Kathryn is a freelance translator. After school she spent a year overseas, undertook university study and worked several jobs. She then completed postgraduate studies in translation and set up as a freelance translator (French to English).
Dr Chatfield graduated from the University of Otago with a medical degree. He then worked in various hospitals around New Zealand. He has spent the last 18 months at the world leading St Pauls Hospital in Vancouver, Canada learning interventional cardiology techniques to bring these skills back to work at Wellington Regional Hospital in August 2022.
After school Ryan worked his way through sales roles before starting his business as a Mortgage Advisor.
Dr Yiu completed a Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Otago, and furthered her studies with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. Winnie now works as a Dental Surgeon in Australia.
Dr Hagstrom is presently the Director of Education and Teaching – Health Sciences at the University of New South Wales. Mandy completed her undergraduate education between Australia, Canada and New Zealand, and her PhD in Australia. She has represented both Australia and New Zealand at the Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships, winning medals for both countries. Mandy has published a number of publications including many in top journals in the world in her field, one of which was featured by Nike.
Ziad achieved a Bachelor of Business from the University of Tasmania. He worked in external audit upon graduation, and moved into industry three years later. Ziad is presently the General Manager Commercial Finance at Tassal Group in Tasmania.
Gaurav achieved a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Auckland. He is now a Geotechnical Engineer, team lead for New Zealand and has a position as an associate.
Gaurav has worked on the Doha Metro, Soccer World Cup Infrastructure, the world's deepest waste water network, and is a designer for the Central Interceptor project and City Rail Link.
Joy is a journalist for TVNZ and the CEO at One Mother to Another. After school she obtained a Bachelor of Broadcasting Communications at New Zealand Broadcasting School. She went on to work in both radio and television journalism. Joy founded the charity One Mother to Another in 2016 and is now the CEO.
Thomas is the Director and Senior Vice President of Electric Solutions at Bosch Thermotechnology, Germany. Thomas attended Macleans College as an exchange student and went on to finish school and then university with distinction. He gained a PhD in chemistry with summa cum laude.
After school Andrew attended university in Korea. He is currently the Head of Leveraged Capital Markets at KB Securities Hong Kong Ltd.

2000s

Jonathan is the Director of various companies which encompass real estate, finance and investment. He graduated from The University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Commerce (honors) and a Bachelor of Health Sciences. Jonathon then relocated to Melbourne where he obtained a Master of Business Administration from Melbourne Business School. While working as the CFO for Calvary Healthcare Hospital he was involved at the finance response level for Covid at the Department of Health.
Brendan attended Auckland University of Technology and then worked in restaurants in Auckland, London, France and Canada. He was recently Head Chef at Cazador for five years and won the Supreme award in the 2021 Metro Top 50. Brendan now owns a food truck business with his partner.
Dr Wang is a General Practitioner, based in Australia. He completed a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery at James Cook University in Queensland. Dr Wang furthered his study with a Master degree at the University of Sydney and a PhD at the University of Western Australia. He has published a number of publications including many in top journals in his field.
Mandy is the Directory at Mandy Chamberlin Consulting Ltd and the New Zealand Manager of Echidna Sewing. She completed a Bachelor of Arts (Psych) and PostGrad Dip (Criminology) and partially completed a National Diploma in Intelligence Analysis while working in Intelligence with the Department of Corrections. After having her first child Mandy pursued her own business venture with Mandy Chamberlin Consulting Ltd which provides specialised embroidery branding services, embroidery digitizing services and training. Mandy also sells Brother embroidery and sewing machines through her role as Echidna Sewing’s New Zealand Manager.
Tony attended the Auckland University of Technology and is now a registered Architect in Hong Kong.
Kimberley is a Clinical Nurse Educator/Nurse Specialist for Totara Hospice. After school she attended Manukau Institute of Technology and obtained a Bachelor of Nursing. Kimberley became a staff Nurse in the oncology ward at Auckland Hospital and briefly worked in an oncology ward in Perth. She worked her way up the ranks of nursing to become a Clinical Nurse Educator for oncology outpatients at Auckland City Hospital before recently moving to Totara Hospice.
Dr Loh is a Resident Physician in Malaysia. After school he was accepted into medical school in Crimea, Ukraine. After graduating he served an internship for 2 years back in Malaysia. In 2016 Dr Loh was awarded an Excellent Service Award by the Ministry of Health Malaysia.
Nick is a Director at Place Design Group, a leading international planning and design consultancy based in Sydney. He has over 10 years of dedicated experience in designing and implementing landscapes both in the public and private realm. After school Nick attended Unitec Institute of Technology and obtained a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture.
Ben is a Service Manager for Eastside Refrigeration. He previously worked in the Royal New Zealand Navy, undertaking an electrical apprenticeship. Ben then moved into a job in sales and then into management.
Rachel is a Pastor at Eastgate Christian Centre. She graduated from university with a Bachelor of Art in History and English, followed by a Master of Information Studies. Rachel is currently undertaking a Graduate Diploma in Applied Theology.
After school Shaun attended university and spent some time abroad in Europe. He has worked in the electricity sector in New Zealand for four years and is currently an Electrical Engineer with Stillstrom.
Michelle gained a Bachelor of Education from The University of Auckland, and achieved a Master of Education from the University of Hong Kong. In 2013 she won first place in the regional singing competition “New Talent International Singing Awards”, where she finished 3rd runner up. Michelle now works in Hong Kong as an Early Childhood Curriculum Specialist.
Kathy is an Associate at Hogan Lovells International LLP, based in Frankfurt, where she specialises in project finance transactions with a particular focus on offshore wind farms. Upon leaving school Kathy studied a double Bachelor degree of Law and Commerce at The University of Auckland. In her penultimate year she completed internships at two law firms and received a training contract offer from Linklaters. Kathy moved to Hong Kong to complete a year of postgraduate studies in law and worked as a trainee solicitor at Linklaters Hong Kong. She qualified as an associate in the Project Finance department and completed multiple overseas secondments.
Shubhita is a Senior Specialist in Healthcare Planning at the Department of Health, Abu Dhabi. She graduated from The University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Health Science and a Post Graduate Diploma in Health Informatics. Shubhita obtained a Masters in Health Informatics from University College London.
Jessica is a Business Resilience and Facilities Manager at Coller Capital. After school she attended the University of Auckland and then moved to London. She has worked in Banking at Bank of America and Barclays Capital. Jessica worked with Discovery Channel before moving to Coller Capital in 2016. She has an AMBCI qualification for Business Continuity Institute, and is passionate about working with staff in Mental Health and Wellbeing. Jessica is a volunteer for Purr Love Cat Rescue and St Mungos Charity. She is married to fellow alumni Kurt Schwalger.
Elson is a Military Pilot for the Republic of Singapore Air Force. He is currently in the United States flying the F-15SG fighter jet with the United States Air Force. After school Elson earned a scholarship from the Singapore Government and was sent to the United States Air Force Academy to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering. He has undertaken pilot training in Australia, Canada and the United States, and was chosen to be part of the United States Air Force Parachute team for three years.
Ray is the Director of Engagement at MADE Group, a property development company.

After graduating from Macleans College, Ray was awarded a Full-Ride Scholarship at the National University of Singapore (Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music) where he obtained a Bachelor of Music with Honours. Ray was the First Prize winner of the 2012 Graz International Conductor’s Mastercourse Competition in Austria. He graduated with Distinction from the Royal Academy of Music as the Henry Wood Scholar in Conducting under Sian Edwards in 2016, and was appointed Conducting Fellow of Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra for the 2016/2017 season, serving as Assistant Conductor to Music Director Giordano Bellincampi. He has been a guest conductor with the English National Opera, Hong Kong Sinfonietta, New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Tasmania Symphony Orchestra and Berlin Echo Ensemble.

Ray is the founding Artistic Director of GOODENSEMBLE – a semi-professional orchestra-in-residence at the London Bloomsbury Festival and currently in its 7th season of performance.

After returning home to New Zealand in 2020 he established a successful business in luxury residential real estate brokering from 2017-2020.
Jenny is the Head of Analytics for a digital agency company. She graduated from The University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Science with Honours, specialising in auditory neuroscience. Jenny then obtained a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Melbourne. She worked in a start-up as a Neuroscientist before travelling to London to start a role in analytics as a data analyst.
Michael works in Blockchain and Web3 development. He is the Director/CTO at Ao Collaboration Ltd. After school Michael studied a Bachelor of Engineering at The University of Auckland. He then worked as a developer at Datacom. Michael found his passion in Web3 through hobby NFT projects and took the plunge to start working fulltime in this area.
Kathryn graduated from MIT with a Bachelor of Education and is now an Early Childhood Teacher.
Peijing is a Financial Controller at Kami, a New Zealand edu-tech company. Peijing completed a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws conjoint at The University of Auckland, and has worked at Fonterra, in London investment banking, in Dutch private banking and Dutch market making.
Mori is the founder of a real estate company. After school he attended university in Kyoto, Japan.
Dena is a Senior Business Analyst at 2degrees Mobile Limited. She studied a conjoint degree at The University of Auckland in Commerce and Science, specialising in Accounting and Computer Science. Dena then started working as a Graduate Business Analyst at Vodafone New Zealand and has worked her way up to her current role.
Jasjeet is a Mechanical Design Engineer – Automation & Robotics at Bosch Australia. After school he obtained a Diploma of Engineering (Production), Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) and Master of Engineering (Honours) (Mechanical).
Keith is currently a Lawyer. After graduating from Macleans College he attended Otago University.
Denym is the co-founder and Director of Paintvine, New Zealand’s largest creative events business which hosts over 1000 events annually. Before founding Paintvine, Denym obtained a Bachelor of Business, undertook an exchange in Hong Kong and spent three years marketing at startup businesses.
Steph is a Project Manager at Zenith Interiors. He completed an electrical apprenticeship and then worked in the industry for a few years. He then decided on a change before settling in his current role.
Rochelle is currently based in Australia and working in Sentence Management. Following school she moved to Australia and attended university. Rochelle completed a Bachelor of Science and started employment with Disability Justice while completing her Masters of Forensic, graduating in 2020. In 2021 she began working in a Correctional Facility with the Department of Justice with regards to the sentencing of offenders. Rochelle is currently completing a postgraduate in Forensic Psychology.
Sami works in Admin for the Living Wage Movement. After school she obtained a Certificate of Early Childhood and Bachelor of Youth Development. Sami is a mother to three boys.
Samuel is the Press Secretary to Hon Dr David Clark - Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Minister of Statistics, Minister Responsible for the Earthquake Commission, Minister for the Digital Economy and Communications, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises. After school Samuel obtained a Bachelor of Communications from The University of Auckland. Following university he worked as a journalist for Newshub, and was the Communications and Content Manager for the Hurricanes Super Rugby franchise.
Kelly is currently a Content Writer and Co-ordinator at The University of Auckland’s Faculty of Education and Social Work. After school Kelly completed a Bachelor of Communications from Auckland University of Technology, worked as a journalist and online editor at Newshub, Newstalk ZB and the Howick and Pakuranga Times before studying for a Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Primary).
Payal is a Year 1 and 2 Primary School Teacher. After school she obtained a Bachelor of Education from The University of Auckland.
Stephanie is a Risk Analyst at SDL Surveying. She is currently obtaining a qualification in residential valuation and surveying.
Siddhartha is currently working as a Data Migration Engineer in the Healthcare sector. He graduated from RMIT University Melbourne with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, and completed a Master’s in Information Systems from Northeastern University, Boston.
Anshita is an Urban Planner working in the public sector. After school she obtained a Bachelor of Urban Planning (Honours).
After school MinChul studied for a Bachelor of Science from the University of Auckland. He then completed a Master of Audiology. He is currently working as a Clinical Audiologist and is a PhD student at the University of Canterbury.
Susakol is a Flight Operations Officer at Auckland Airport. He undertook flying experience at Auckland Aero Club and has a Bachelor in Aviation Management from Massey University.

2010s

Jack worked in a supermarket while studying at The University of Auckland. He is now the store manager of a multi-million dollar store and is following the ownership programme into owning a supermarket.
Dr Mellin is a veterinarian at Bucklands Beach Veterinary Clinic. She graduated from The University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Hons).
Lucas is currently a PhD candidate at The University of Auckland, School of Computer Science. His thesis topic is human factors in cybersecurity. Lucas graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Computer Science. Lucas has also worked for a tech startup, working on cryptographic systems, and has been a graduate teaching assistant for the past three years. He has also had a contract as a professional teaching fellow in 2022, lecturing a third year paper on data communications.
After school Siyuan studied Mathematics at the University of Cambridge. She then worked as a Quantitative Strategist at Goldman Sachs. Siyuan is now a PhD student under the Cambridge-Tübingen Fellowship.
Jieon is a Dentist, based in the Waitaki District. Jieon graduated University of Otago, Faculty of Dentistry with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery.
After school Breana undertook a Gap Year with Camp America. She graduated from The University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Science. Straight out of university Breana started a career as a Monitoring Survey Graduate, working on the Central Interceptor with Ghella Abergeldie Joint Venture. In 2022 Breana has been nominated as a “Rising Star” in the National Women in Construction (NAWIC) Awards ceremony.
Daniel achieved a Bachelor of Business from Auckland University of Technology. He currently works as a Financial Analyst at Covenant Trustee Services Limited.
Max is a Constable with the New Zealand Police. After leaving school he obtained a Bachelor of Communications Studies from Auckland University of Technology. Max dedicates much time to volunteering for Surf Life Saving New Zealand (SLSNZ). He has been heavily involved in the Whangamata SLSC and was Club Captain for two years. In 2018 he was awarded SLSNZ National Instructor of the Year, and in 2020 was awarded the SLSNZ National Lifeguard of the Year.
Hussain is a Site Engineer at Fletcher Construction. He attained a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours in Civil Engineering from The University of Auckland.
Courtney is a Marketing Coordinator at Pattle Delamore Partners. After school she obtained a Bachelor of Business majoring in Accounting and Marketing.
Ryan studied a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) at Auckland University of Technology. He is now working as a Mechanical Design Engineer with Dobbie Engineers.
Wahid is a Social Media Marketing Manager. After school he attended The University of Auckland to study a Bachelor of Business. Wahid is now based in Germany where he continues to gain work experience.
Keerthana is a dentist (Oral and Maxillofacial House Officer) at Waikato DHB. He graduated from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery.
Katherine is a Junior Physicist at Rocket Lab. After school Katherine obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Physics and Biomedical Engineering, and undertook an overseas exchange in the USA.
Jamie is a Technology Graduate at 2degrees. She studied a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), Computer Systems Engineering at The University of Auckland. Jamie joined the 2degrees graduate programme in 2021 and has rotated around the business in three different roles – Data Visualisation Analyst, Project Co-ordinator for corporate/product projects and her current role as a Transition and Quality Analyst. Jamie has been featured on the 2degrees LinkedIn page multiple times, on behalf of their graduate programme and women in tech initiatives with the aim of encouraging more women into STEM roles. She is a finalist for a Women in ICT award 2022.
Malitha is a Risk Consultant at PwC. He attended The University of Auckland obtaining a Bachelor of Commerce.
Laura is a Digital Media Specialist for Penn Jersey Paper, based in Philadelphia. After school Laura attended Drexel University in Philadelphia and graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Photography major). Laura then gained a job as a product photographer for an e-commerce website. She is about to receive a green card through the diversity visa lottery program to stay in the US permanently.
Ben Zhang (Mansfield House 2013 - 2018)
Ben is currently studying at Harvard University and will graduate in May 2022. In August he will start his Harvard Medical School (MD/HST). Ben is Phi Beta Kappa Inducts class of 2022 and has twice won the John Harvard Award. He has one paper published in Nature Biotechnology. His Mcat score is 537/538, GAMSAT is 88.
Karl is currently a PhD student at The University of Auckland. In 2021 he graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons). He has interned at The University of Auckland, Fonterra and Beca. Karl received a Doctoral Scholarship from The University of Auckland and he co-founded their chess club in 2019.
Kristopher has recently finished his undergraduate degree in Nursing from The University of Auckland. He is currently a Registered Nurse at Counties Manukau District Health Board (Middlemore Hospital), and is about to embark on postgraduate studies.
Gary is currently studying a Bachelors of Arts majoring in English and Geography, with the aim of becoming a secondary school teacher.
Kelvin is currently studying medicine at The University of Auckland.
Samuel was awarded a Co-op and Scientia Scholarship at the University of New South Wales where he is currently studying.
Ritchie is a first year piano major at The University of Auckland where he is currently studying under Katherine Austin. After being accepted into the Royal College of Music in London, he now also studies under Professor Jianing Kong. He will be moving to London in September 2022.
