Daily life in a homestay
Each homestay offers a structured yet relaxed environment that supports both academic study and personal wellbeing.
Students can expect:
- Shared meals with the host family
- Opportunities to take part in everyday conversations and family activities
- A regular daily routine that supports school attendance and study
- Travel to and from school by bus, on foot, or with the host family
Students are encouraged to use technology for both study and communication with family at home.
Student responsibilities
As part of living in a New Zealand family home, international students are expected to contribute respectfully to the household.
Responsibilities may include:
- Clearing dishes after meals
- Assisting with simple household tasks
- Keeping shared spaces tidy
- Maintaining a clean and organised bedroom
These expectations help students develop independence, responsibility and respect for others.
