Macleans College secures Year 10 Mathex double
Posted on September 09, 2026
Macleans College students delivered another strong performance at the 2026 Auckland Mathex Competition, building on the school’s long-standing success in the event.
With thorough preparation and strong support from the Mathex executive, the teams were well equipped to compete at the highest level.
The Year 9A team was first to compete, finishing second after a closely contested competition. The team placed just moments behind Rangitoto College, which took first place. The Year 9B team also performed strongly, finishing fourth.
The Year 10 competition was particularly competitive, with many students returning after competing at Year 9 level the previous year. This experience contributed to a strong field of well-prepared teams.
Macleans College’s Year 10 teams performed exceptionally well, securing both first and second place. Their success reflected the team's careful preparation, supported by the Mathex executive. Many members of the executive had themselves competed in the Year 9 or Year 10 teams in previous years and were able to draw on that experience when preparing the current teams.
Special congratulations go to Mathex executive members Wesley Lau (Kupe House), Cherry Lee (Batten), Daniel Lee (Upham), Eden Wu (Hillary), Emily Chan (Kupe), Isaac Chen (Hillary), Isla Wang (Upham) and Roy Luo (Te Kanawa) for their leadership, expertise and commitment throughout the competition season.
