Tournament Week 2026: 1st XI Girls Football

The Macleans College 1st XI Girls Football team finished its season as runners-up in the Grant Jarvis New Zealand Secondary Schools Football Tournament. Their unbeaten run to the final was a fitting conclusion to a season of growth and determination.
The regular season brought a mixture of results in a highly competitive league. Although the team did not qualify for the New Zealand Secondary Schools premier tournament, it avoided relegation and secured its place in next year’s premier division.
The team finished its season at the Grant Jarvis New Zealand Secondary Schools Football Tournament in Hamilton. After progressing through the competition unbeaten, the players faced Green Bay High School in the final.
Macleans College showed resilience and tenacity throughout the match. Green Bay High School ultimately secured the title with a 4-2 victory.
While the result was disappointing, the team can reflect on an enjoyable season of school football. The departing Year 13 players leave behind a strong foundation for the next generation of Macleans College footballers to build on.
