Multiple top placings for Macleans College at Auckland Girls Chess Championship

Eight Macleans College students made their mark at the 2026 Auckland Girls Chess Championship, with four students finishing among the top three in their respective divisions.
Zoey Huang (Batten House) delivered an outstanding performance in the Open Division, finishing first equal in a highly competitive field.
The school also recorded strong results in the Under 16 Division. Leona Li (Te Kanawa) and Jessie Lin (Mansfield) finished first equal, demonstrating their skill and composure throughout the tournament.
In the Under 18 Division, Gloria Zhu (Te Kanawa) finished third equal after another strong performance.
Congratulations to all participating students on their achievements and for demonstrating skill, perseverance and sportsmanship throughout the competition.
