The Macleans College 1st XV rugby team is preparing for an exciting year, highlighted by a major tour to Japan in September.

At the end of Term 1, the team hosted Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School from New South Wales, Australia winning in impressive style with a final score of 42–5.

During the recent school holidays, the players completed a three-day training camp based at Macleans College. They also proudly marched alongside the prefects at the Anzac Day service at Stockade Hill.

The 2025 season kicks off on Saturday 3 May, with the team competing in the Auckland Secondary Schools 1B competition.

Over the past six months, the players have engaged in a range of fundraising activities, including labouring and catering work. A golf tournament and auction are still to come. Their current fundraiser, Club 200, offers local businesses the opportunity to gain marketing and branding exposure in return for supporting the team’s tour.

The team welcomes community support to help make this unforgettable experience a reality. To learn more, including how to donate and get involved, please visit macleansrugby.co.nz
