Year 11 Mana students reach new heights in the Coromandel

Posted on June 08, 2026

Year 11 Mana students at Macleans College challenged themselves on an unforgettable overnight adventure to the Pinnacles in Coromandel Forest Park.

The group hiked the Kauaeranga Kauri Trail to the summit of the Pinnacles before spending the night at Pinnacles Hut. The journey tested their resilience, stamina and perseverance, while rewarding them with spectacular views across the Coromandel Peninsula.

Beyond the physical challenge, students strengthened their connections with one another and developed a deeper appreciation for the natural environment. The experience also supported all four dimensions of Hauora, the Māori philosophy of health and wellbeing - making the trip both a personal and shared achievement.
