Students experience a taste of Mexico

The Year 11 Macleans College Spanish class recently travelled into Auckland City for a taste of Mexico.

Firstly students visited the Auckland Art Gallery where they had a guided tour of the ‘Art and Life in Modern Mexico' exhibit, featuring the art of renowned Mexican artists Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, as well as some of their contemporaries.

Students viewed some of Kahlo and Rivera’s key works and learnt about their lives, challenges and influences. The exhibit also gave students an insight into Mexican culture.

Following this, students had lunch in a Mexican restaurant, where they enjoyed some delicious food in a unique setting, surrounded by iconic images of Mexico and Mexican culture.

Students in this class are currently reading a short story set in Mexico, so this was a fitting way for them to round out the year and learn a little more about a significant Spanish speaking country.
