Macleans College celebrates student and alumni cricket success

Macleans College continues to celebrate strong performances in cricket, with a current student and alumnus achieving at the highest levels.
Over the summer holidays, Head Girl Ayaan Lambat (Batten House) delivered strong performances in national competitions, while former student Selwin Sanjay (Mansfield House 2020 - 2024) represented New Zealand on the international stage.
Ayaan enjoyed an outstanding summer of cricket. On 26 December she made her Women’s Super Smash Twenty20 debut for the Auckland Hearts against the Northern Brave in Hamilton.
A genuine all-rounder, Ayaan put some runs on the board in her next match against the Wellington Blaze. She also impressed with the ball, taking two wickets in her debut bowling performance against the Canterbury Magicians.
Following a strong season, the Auckland Hearts progressed to the grand final against the Wellington Blaze. The match was closely contested and decided in the final over, with the Blaze securing a five-wicket win.
Ayaan also represented Auckland at the National Under-19 Women’s Tournament, held in Lincoln from 4-11 January. Auckland finished runners-up, with Ayaan contributing two centuries in the One Day competition.
In further cricket success, former student Selwin Sanjay recently represented New Zealand at the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup, held across Zimbabwe and Namibia.
