Pride Week promotes inclusion and awareness at Macleans College

Posted on June 29, 2026

National Schools' Pride Week was marked at Macleans College with a range of student-led activities that celebrated diversity, encouraged inclusion and affirmed the school's rainbow community.

Organised by the Macleans College Rainbow Pride Group, the week attracted strong support from students and staff across the school.

The celebrations formed part of the annual National Schools' Pride Week campaign coordinated by InsideOUT, which involves hundreds of secondary schools throughout New Zealand. The events were open to everyone, regardless of how they identify.

The week began with the raising of the Progress Pride Flag on the school flagpole. Activities included a pride-themed quiz, a lunchtime craft session and a bake sale that raised funds for rainbow charities. Flags, stickers and badges designed by students were also displayed around the school to help promote awareness and visibility.

The Rainbow Pride Group meets weekly and is advertised through the student daily notices. Alongside organising Pride Week, members explore a range of topics, share ideas and build friendships in a welcoming environment. All students are welcome to attend.
