Premier Squash teams compete on the national stage

The Macleans College Premier Squash teams travelled to Christchurch to compete at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Squash Championships, joining around 60 schools from across New Zealand at the national event.
Both teams faced strong opposition and demonstrated the skill, determination and teamwork developed throughout the season.
The Premier Girls finished 11th overall, while the Premier Boys placed 24th. Both teams approached each match with focus and maintained strong team spirit throughout the tournament, including during challenging games.
The championships provided a valuable opportunity for the players to compete at the highest level of secondary school squash. The experience also reflected the commitment shown by the teams throughout the season, from weekly training sessions through to the national tournament.
The teams are grateful to the staff who supported them throughout the season and during the trip to Christchurch. Mr Wing organised the trip, while Mrs Sutanto assisted with the travel arrangements. Mr Chang and Mr Tracey managed the teams, and Rafa Yam provided coaching and guidance.
Premier Boys: Captain - Tanish Naidoo (Upham House), Daniel Pokorny (Te Kanawa), Jeffrey Wang (Hillary), Finley Morgan-Foster (Snell), Terence Yu (Snell), Linson Ye (Snell).
Premier Girls: Captain - Emily Chan (Kupe), Jeslyn Jiang (Upham), Stella Kim (Snell), Grishma Kichavadi (Batten), Ashley Hu (Kupe), Alyssa Guo (Upham).
The national championships were a rewarding conclusion to the season. Both teams can be proud of the dedication, resilience and team spirit they demonstrated throughout the competition and across the season.
