Māori and Pasifika families attend Macleans College hui

Posted on June 15, 2021

On Wednesday 2 June, Macleans College hosted the families of Māori and Pasifika students.

The focus of the hui was to make connections between the staff, the students and their whanau, and to introduce the Māori and Pasifika group. Ideas were also shared from families to help better support the students.

Past student Deputy Head Boy Sean Wilkie (Mansfield House 2014 – 2018) spoke about his experience with the Māori and Pasifika group and encouraged students to engage with the group.

A special thank you to Grace Pickering (Te Kanawa) who organised and ran the night. Also, to Tina Fata (Kupe) and Giani Raurenti (Snell) for sharing their cultural dance.

The whakataukī “He waka eke noa” was the guiding proverb for this hui.
