Macleans College community unites to support All Saints Church Food Bank

More than 2,600 non-perishable food items and $4,650 were donated to the All Saints Church Howick Food Bank after Macleans College students and staff came together during Term 2 to support local families in need.
Led by the school prefects, the initiative highlighted the importance of giving back while strengthening the school's connection with the local community.
In the lead-up to Macleans College Intercultural Week, the prefects encouraged students to support the food drive by emphasising the value of helping those in need. Each of the eight whānau Houses collected non-perishable food donations, giving every student the opportunity to contribute.
By the end of Intercultural Mufti Day, Macleans College students had raised $4,650 through their mufti day donations. Alongside the fundraiser, the school community also collected more than 2,600 non-perishable food items. Te Kanawa House made an outstanding contribution, donating more than 550 items.
Representing the Macleans College community, the Head Prefects and House Captains of Kupe, Te Kanawa and Snell delivered the food items and presented a cheque to the All Saints Church Howick Food Bank. During their visit, the students learned more about how the food bank supports local families and the important role it has played in the community for the past 35 years.
This year marks the food bank's 35th anniversary of serving families and individuals in need. Its ongoing commitment to supporting the local community reflects the lasting impact that charitable organisations can have.
The food drive demonstrated the generosity of the Macleans College community and the positive difference that can be made when students and staff work together to support others. The school thanks everyone who contributed to the success of the prefect-led initiative.
