Danielle was a member of the 12-strong swimming team chosen to represent New Zealand. Her impressive talent shone through when she reached the final of the 400m individual medley. She swam a strong race in 4:58.00s to win a silver medal – one of nine medals won by the New Zealand team.

Danielle also competed in the 200m freestyle, 200m freestyle relay and the 200m individual medley, where she finished fourth.

Towards the end of the games, Danielle was honoured to be chosen as the New Zealand flagbearer for the closing ceremony. She described it as an amazing experience to be able to close for the New Zealand team.
