Earlier this year in the Casio Senior Mathematics Competition William Han, Year 12 Upham House competed nationally against the top fourteen students.

He emerged as the winner and therefore became the top mathematics student in New Zealand.

More recently, in the Otago University Junior Mathematics Challenge, which was sat by nearly 300 Macleans College students, three performed with great distinction.  They are:

  • Michael Li (Batten) who came 3rd in the Year 9 competition
  • Oliver Dai (Snell) who came 2nd in the Year 10 competition
  • Terry Shen (Te Kanawa) who came 3rd in the Year 11 competition
