Macleans College students have continued the school's impressive record in competitive chess, delivering outstanding performances at the New Zealand Chess Federation East Auckland Regional Interschools Chess Championship.

Their results reflected both individual excellence and the depth of talent across the school's chess programme.

Macleans College achieved outstanding results, with the A team claiming first place and the B team finishing third overall.

The championship-winning A team, made up of Charlie Huang (Batten House), Zoey Huang (Batten), Kelvin Wang (Hillary), and Alex Pan (Hillary), delivered an exceptional performance. In a rare achievement, all four players recorded the highest score on their respective boards. Each received an individual prize in addition to the team's championship trophy.

The school's depth of talent was further highlighted by Jerry Wang (Snell) from the Macleans College C team.  Jerry shared the prize for the highest score on board 4, adding another individual honour to Macleans College's impressive overall performance.

Congratulations to all the players on their outstanding achievements. Their dedication, preparation and strategic thinking were reflected in an excellent set of results for Macleans College.
