Intercultural Food Festival highlights diversity at Macleans College

The Macleans College amphitheatre came alive with the sights, sounds and flavours of cultures from around the world during the annual Intercultural Food Festival.

Students gathered at lunchtime to enjoy a wide range of international dishes while celebrating the diversity that shapes the school community.

Organised by the Macleans College Intercultural Committee (ICC), the festival featured a variety of popular street foods and desserts. Students enjoyed Korean rice cakes (tteokbokki), Japanese mochi, bubble tea, mango lassi, tres leches cake, Chinese dumplings and Indian delicacies.

Students were able to explore and appreciate the diverse cultures represented across the Macleans College community.  The event fostered a vibrant sense of inclusion, connection and celebration.

ICC President Naomi Kwan (Snell House), alongside executive team members Lakshya Narooka (Hillary), Nathan Rao (Rutherford) and Stephanie Lin (Rutherford) worked closely with ICC members to coordinate the event.  The committee also acknowledges Macleans College staff for their valuable logistical support throughout the event.

All proceeds from the festival will be donated to Multicultural New Zealand, an organisation that supports the wellbeing and inclusion of migrants and refugees while promoting unity across Aotearoa New Zealand.
