Posted on August 10, 2023

On Tuesday 1 August, the Interact Club held their highly anticipated, annual bake sale.

This fantastic initiative raised over $800 in support of Cystic Fibrosis New Zealand, a charity that provides much-needed aid to children in New Zealand suffering from this challenging genetic lung disease that impacts their respiratory and digestive systems.

More than 100 club members participated in the event, from poster making and advertising to baking the goods and manning the stalls. There was an irresistible array of mouthwatering goods, ranging from pink and white glazed cake pops adorned with heart shaped sprinkles, to chocolate, oreo, blueberry and biscoff cupcakes, gooey brownies and chocolate chip cookies. The rocky road filled with marshmallows and jelly candy sold out almost instantly. Best of all, the baked goods were very affordable for students, only $1-$2 for each item.

The turnout was incredibly successful, drawing students and staff alike to the amphitheatre, all eager for a delicious treat! Interact, one of the largest service clubs with over 300 members has had a very successful fundraising year. Hosting a variety of events, such as selling ice blocks on Athletics Day and bucket collections at the school carnival and in Picton Street in Howick.

The event was organised by the Interact executive team - Shafquat Tabeeb (Mansfield House), Caelyn Pak (Te Kanawa), Amber Ho (Upham), Cecilia Ma (Mansfield), Ivan Yun (Te Kanawa), Mika Ramsing (Kupe), Nethra Tennakoon (Kupe) and Eason Chee (Mansfield). Thank you to Ms Matthews-Ward for supporting the executive team, as well as the students and staff who volunteered and supported the event.
