Golfers tee off in support of Macleans College

Posted on March 19, 2024

The inaugural Macleans College Golf Day was played in ideal conditions at the Whitford Park Golf Club on Friday 1 March.

Twenty seven teams, with a mix of students and staff, former students, high profile businesses and supporters of the school, came together and all enjoyed the golf, the company and the celebratory awards dinner.

The event was won by the team Rand Rescue. All four players received a wedge club each worth $500. Macleans College Year 12 student Leo Isobe (Kupe House) won Nearest the Pin. Rhona Bramwell from Auckland Badminton (Female Division) and Macleans College Year 12 international student from Germany, Paul Horyna (Mansfield) (Male Division) took out the Longest Drive.

The event raised a significant amount of money through entry fees, hole sponsorships, a gamble hole, quick-fire raffles and two silent auctions of signed All Blacks and Black Caps jerseys. All funds raised from the day will be shared between the budding Golf Academy and upcoming international football trips, as well as a huge contribution towards an all-weather multi-sport space and cricket training facility on the school grounds.

The organising committee and the school would like to thank all of the sponsors and prize givers. A huge thank you to Team Tina of Harcourts East Tamaki, who was the main sponsor of the event and Marbled Delicatessen and Butchery who sponsored and supplied the pre-tee off barbeque lunch.
