A fellowship of Macleans College A Level Design and Technology students undertook an unexpected journey to the Hobbiton Movie Set, exploring the creativity and craftsmanship behind the famous film location.
With the help of a knowledgeable and engaging tour guide, students examined the intricate details that bring Hobbiton to life. Carefully placed props, handcrafted set pieces, natural textures, colours and landscaping all contribute to the authenticity of the environment. The visit provided an opportunity to see how thoughtful design and attention to detail can create an immersive experience.
Students captured photographs of interesting design features throughout the tour and developed a deeper appreciation for how aesthetics, materials and careful planning can transform an environment and influence how people experience a space.
The tour included the exterior of the Shire, an exploration inside a hobbit hole and a brief encounter with three large trolls. The visit concluded at the Green Dragon, where students enjoyed a well-earned ginger ale.
The students thanked Mr Hey and Mr Bevan for making the trip possible and supporting the group throughout the day.
