Dangerous Girls’ Ooh La La Art Exhibition

Posted on September 03, 2019

Recently the Macleans College Visual Art Faculty held the annual girls’ exhibition in the school’s Art department gallery.

Over 150 artworks were displayed and included moving image, textiles, painting, sculpture, printmaking, design and photography.

At lunchtime, the school was able to enjoy coffee and French food trucks. The prizegiving was held after school.

Textiles have featured for the second year in the exhibition. This resulted in a stunning display of creative technology. The Karen Walker textile prize was won by Georgia Stringer (Snell House) and the Evie Finnigan prize sponsored by Marina Hairdresser, was won by Candace Davy. The Thompson prize, sponsored by Karen Walker, was won by Penelope Kunzler (Kupe).

The people’s choice award attracted very strong participation and was closely won by Year 12 student Robyn Abrahams (Te Kanawa House).  Deputy Principal Mrs Thompson acted as the MC and awarded the Thompson prize.

The event would not be possible without the tremendous support of all the sponsors – Fresh Choice, Gordon Harris, New World, Karen Walker, Eeny Meeny, Basalt, Marina Salon, Monterey Cinemas and My Deer Fox.
