Macleans College Chorale inspires joy at Highlands Retirement Home

Each year, the choir eagerly anticipates performing in this warm and welcoming environment for their first concert of the season.

This year, the Chorale presented seven pieces, including the premiere of Te Hīmene o Maria by New Zealand composer Takerei Komene.  Selina Wang (Upham House) shone as the Chorale’s collaborative pianist, while Eric Yao (Upham) and Helena Sotto (Te Kanawa) delivered beautiful solos in the Irish folk song The Parting Glass, arranged by Audrey Snyder.

Residents praised the performance and appreciated the opportunity to meet the singers afterward, sharing stories about their lives and musical experiences.  One resident commented, 'We wish [Chorale] could come every week!'

Director Mrs McNabb expressed gratitude to the residents and organisers at Highlands Village for their warm welcome and for allowing the students to share the music they have been working on this year.
