Challenge course students explore Hunua Ranges

Year 11 Challenge students at Macleans College recently embarked on an adventurous hike through the scenic Hunua Ranges, tackling the Cosseys Dam to Massey Loop.
The experience offered more than just fresh air and exercise - it encouraged teamwork, resilience and a deeper connection with the natural environment.
The students navigated the rugged hills surrounding Cosseys Reservoir, gaining practical skills and an appreciation for outdoor challenges.
Throughout the hike, they followed safe hiking practices, observed 'leave no trace' principles and supported one another along the way. They also practised river-crossing techniques before admiring the beauty of Hunua Falls.
Macleans College’s Challenge course aims to develop well-rounded young men who engage fully in school life and strive to reach their potential. The programme emphasises personal growth through outdoor activities, fitness and wellbeing along with numeracy and literacy skills.
