Celebrating Chinese New Year with thoughtful blessings for 2025

Posted on January 31, 2025

As the Year of the Snake begins, Macleans College extends heartfelt wishes to the community for a prosperous and harmonious year.

In keeping with cherished traditions, Macleans College Board members and Nee Cullum, Head of Asian Private Banking - ANZ, generously donated symbolic gold coins and blessings, presented in beautifully adorned red envelopes, to staff members as they embark on their 2025 school journey.

The Chinese New Year red envelope, or hóngbāo, is a timeless symbol of good fortune and blessings. Wrapping lucky money in these vibrant envelopes is believed to bestow happiness and prosperity upon the receiver, along with wishes for a safe and peaceful year ahead.

The chocolate gold coins enclosed in the envelopes represent luck, prosperity and abundance. Hand-painted messages, personally crafted by a Board member, carry blessings of happiness and success - honouring the spirit of goodwill associated with this festive season.

The Year of the Snake holds deep cultural significance - symbolising transformation and renewal, encouraging people to reflect on their paths, embrace new opportunities and seek personal growth.

Macleans College wishes everyone a joyous Chinese New Year filled with health, happiness and good fortune.
