Cambridge Examination Invigilators needed

Posted on August 21, 2026

Seasonal contract | 28 September to 12 November 2026 | $30 per hour

Macleans College is seeking reliable, professional people to assist with the supervision of Cambridge examinations during September, October and November 2026.

This is important, procedure-focused work requiring excellent attention to detail, punctuality and the confidence to supervise students calmly and consistently. Previous examination-supervision experience is helpful but not essential, as full training will be provided.

Essential availability requirement

Applicants must be available for the majority of the Cambridge examination period, from Monday 28 September to Thursday 12 November 2026.

Examinations take place primarily on weekdays, across both morning and afternoon sessions, with one limited Saturday session. Applicants must have broad flexibility across the period rather than availability for only occasional dates or one or two days per week.

We understand that applicants may have a small number of existing commitments. These must be clearly disclosed when applying. Successful applicants will not necessarily be rostered every day, and the number of sessions offered will depend on the examination timetable and operational requirements.

Availability between 12 and 23 October, particularly on the afternoon of Friday 16 October, is especially important.

About the role

Cambridge examinations are paper-based. Successful applicants may be responsible for:

  • Preparing examination rooms and materials
  • Checking candidate attendance and seating
  • Reading instructions clearly to candidates
  • Monitoring candidates throughout examinations
  • Maintaining examination security and confidentiality
  • Following Cambridge regulations and Macleans College procedures precisely
  • Accurately collecting and checking examination materials
  • Reporting any irregularities to the Exam Centre Manager

We are looking for people who are:

  • Available for almost the entire examination period
  • Dependable, punctual and well organised
  • Calm and confident when supervising groups of students
  • Able to follow detailed procedures precisely
  • Observant and able to remain attentive for extended periods
  • Professional in their communication, conduct and presentation
  • Legally entitled to work in New Zealand
  • Willing to complete the required police-vetting process
  • Able to attend a compulsory paid training session during September

Hours and payment

This is seasonal, session-based work, with hours varying according to the examination timetable and operational requirements.

The rate is $30 per hour. Invigilators will be engaged as independent service providers and will submit an invoice for the hours they work.

Conflicts of interest

Applicants must disclose any personal, family, employment or other connection that could create a conflict of interest, including having a close family or household member sitting examinations at Macleans College.

How to apply

Please email the Exam Centre Manager, Michelle Green at [email protected] with:

  • Your full name and contact telephone number
  • A brief introduction
  • Confirmation that you are available for the majority of the period from 28 September to 12 November 2026
  • A complete list of any dates or sessions when you are unavailable
  • Details of any previous examination supervision or other procedural, compliance, education or customer-facing experience
  • Confirmation that you are legally entitled to work in New Zealand
  • Details of any potential conflict of interest

A formal CV is welcome but is not essential.

Applications close Friday 28 August 2026.

We welcome applications from dependable people from a wide range of professional and community backgrounds.
