Award-winning photographer visiting New Zealand

Former Macleans College student Helen Manson née Buckley (Batten House 2001 – 2003) and who was Batten House Captain in 2003 is visiting New Zealand later this month.

She is a multi-award-winning humanitarian photographer and storyteller, currently living and working in Uganda. Helen’s work has taken her around the world to some of the most challenging environments documenting famine, refugee settlements, post war environments, child sponsorship, micro-enterprise, trauma counselling and disaster zones. She has travelled to more than 40 countries including Iraq, Democratic Republic of Congo, Lebanon, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia and India, documenting global humanitarian issues for charities and NGO’s.

Helen will be speaking at the Victory Convention Centre in Freemans Bay on 23 May at an event called “A Celebration of Humanity with Helen Manson”. She will be sharing stories and images about the work she undertakes around the globe. In addition to this, she is holding a Photography for Parents workshop on 25 May at the Parenting Place in Greenlane, Auckland. Helen is also visiting Christchurch, Invercargill and Wellington.
