Successful start to the season for Macleans College squash players

Posted on May 20, 2026

The Macleans College Premier Boys’ and Girls’ squash teams represented the school at the three-day Auckland Squash Individual Championships, hosted by North Shore Squash Club.

Students competed against players from schools across Auckland.  For several team members, it was their first major secondary school tournament.  The event provided a valuable opportunity to develop match experience and build confidence.  Throughout the tournament, students showed strong sportsmanship, determination and support for one another.

Each player took part in three or four matches across the three days, with final placings decided through individual results.  Several students achieved strong finishes:

  • Emily Chan (Kupe House) - second in Women’s Division 2
  • Stella Kim (Snell) - first in Women’s Division 3
  • Grishma Kichavadi (Batten) - first in Women’s Division 4
  • Finley Morgan-Foster (Snell) - second in Men’s Division 5
  • Linson Ye (Snell) - second in Men’s Division 6

These results reflect the commitment and preparation shown by the squad at the start of the season.

The students acknowledge the support of Mr Chang, Mr Wing and Mr Tracey, along with coach Rafa Yam, whose guidance and encouragement contributed to the tournament experience.  Following a successful event, the teams look forward to competing again next year.
