Macleans College students showcase scientific discovery at Auckland Science Fair

Encouraging young people to solve problems, explore new ideas and make creative discoveries is at the heart of the Earth Sciences’ South and East Auckland Science Fair.

Thirteen Macleans College students took part in the 2026 event, presenting research projects that reflected their curiosity, commitment and interest in the world around them.

Months of planning and research prepared the students to share their work with scientists from across Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. During the Fair, they explained their research findings and answered questions about their projects.

The event provided an opportunity for students to develop their scientific thinking, communicate their ideas and gain valuable experience presenting their work to an expert audience.

All 13 students are to be congratulated on their commitment and achievements.  Special recognition goes to Isla Wang (Upham House) for her project, Sting Operation, and Maisy Chen (Mansfield) and Amy Gao (Te Kanawa) for their project, Wool Shield. Both projects received Highly Commended awards.

The other Macleans College entrants were Yu Xi Deng (Kupe), Jessica Jee (Snell), Urvi Karanam (Rutherford), Karishma Pal (Snell), Akshana Ragulan (Upham), Jin-Zhao Teh (Snell), Yao-Zhao Teh (Snell), Jocelyn Wang (Upham), Annie Ye (Snell) and Linson Ye (Snell).
