Macleans College students compete at the Auckland School Sprint Orienteering Championships

Students who placed in the top 10 of their division at this level progressed to the Auckland Championships.

The finals were held on Sunday 29 March. The morning race took place at Massey University, followed by an afternoon race at Orewa College.

Competitors faced two demanding courses. The morning race tested stamina, while the afternoon event required technical precision. Warm weather added to the challenge. Despite this, Macleans College students performed strongly.

Tamsyn McCamish (Mansfield House) achieved an outstanding result, placing fifth overall in the highly competitive Intermediate Girls division. Her performance reflected consistent effort throughout the competition.

Orienteering is a rewarding sport that combines navigation and endurance. Competitors use maps to complete courses in unfamiliar environments, requiring both physical and mental skill. Students interested in participating next season are encouraged to check the daily notices at the start of 2027.
