Strong results at Auckland Orienteering Relay Championships

Posted on May 12, 2026

A group of Macleans College students recently competed in the Auckland Secondary Schools Orienteering Relay Championship held at Muirs Farm, Waiuku.

Conditions were ideal, with clear skies and views of the Tasman Sea.  The course was challenging, with steep terrain and complex navigation. Despite this, all students completed their courses in strong times.  They showed excellent support for one another, particularly through the spectator leg and at the finish line, and valued the experience.

The junior boys’ team of Nick Yu (Mansfield House), Ali Ahmadi (Kupe) and Paul (Batten) placed fifth in their division.  The junior girls’ team of Shenali Samarathunga (Upham), Danica Wu (Hillary) and Ella Wu (Hillary) placed tenth.  The intermediate team of Shaun Cai (Snell), Emery Cai (Snell) and Tamsyn McCamish (Mansfield) placed sixth.
