Asbestos removal

Notice to parents/residents on Macleans Road, adjacent to Macleans College and users of the Macleans Reserve, adjacent to Macleans College.

Notification of asbestos removal

From 6.00 am on 4 April 2026 to midnight on 17 April 2026, the boiler room at Macleans College containing asbestos located near Te Kanawa House, Classrooms E1, E2 and the gymnasium will have asbestos removed from the building and the old boiler heating unit.

The area affected will be fenced off, creating an exclusion zone with appropriate hazard and construction signage.  Demolition vehicles will be accessing the site via entrance two.

The work will be undertaken by a licenced asbestos removal company, Morecroft Contractors Ltd, (Asbestos Removal Licences RA16090131 and RB16100193).  

All work will be carried out in compliance with the Health and Safety at Work (Asbestos) Regulations 2016 and will follow the Ministry of Education requirements for asbestos removal in schools.

The dates above are during the school holiday period and Macleans College has no organised school student activities in the vicinity of the asbestos removal during these dates. Students, parents and members of the community are asked to avoid accessing the school campus while this work is undertaken.
