Aria and Voce Castello represent Macleans College at Treble Voices Festival

Macleans College treble choirs Aria and Voce Castello joined young singers from across the region at the sixth annual Treble Voices Festival at Westlake Girls’ High School.
The festival provided an opportunity for the choristers to develop their skills, learn from leading choral practitioners and perform alongside other young treble-voice singers. Each year, renowned clinicians lead workshops designed to develop the singers’ musical skills and deepen their understanding of choral performance.
This year, Macleans College choristers worked with Fiona Wilson, Dr Karen Grylls ONZM and Lyn Williams AM, the world-renowned conductor of the Gondwana Indigenous Children’s Choir.
The festival’s international guest choir was the Gondwana Indigenous Children’s Choir from Cairns, Queensland. The national ensemble of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander performers shared a powerful performance that brought together First Nations languages, stories and choral music.
Aria performed Calico Cat by Andy Beck, while Voce Castello, Macleans College’s new premier treble-voice choir, performed I Am Not Yours by New Zealand composer David N Childs.
The singers from all nine participating schools then came together for a selection of Christmas-themed works, bringing the festival to a celebratory close.
