Macleans College alumnus awarded scholarship to National University of Singapore

He has also secured a place at NUS College, the university’s honours college, recognising his outstanding academic performance and leadership.

The scholarship, valued at approximately SGD $48,000 per year for the duration of his studies, combines the Singapore Ministry of Education's Tuition Grant with support from NUS College. The programme offers a rigorous interdisciplinary education, designed to foster cross-boundary collaboration, paired with groundbreaking experiential learning and a rich residential college experience.

During his time at Macleans College, William distinguished himself in both STEM and academic pursuits. He excelled in the VEX Robotics Competition, earning the Think Award and Sportsmanship Award. His team also reached the national finals and qualified for the 2025 World Championships in Dallas.

William's contribution extended beyond competition. Over three years, he mentored students in the Robotics Club and co-founded the junior-friendly EPro8 Club. He also applied his CAD and 3D printing skills to recreate robotics competition elements and produce graduation souvenirs for his year group.

He was an active member of the Digital Leaders team and supported younger students as an AS Level Mathematics House tutor. In 2025, he received NZQA Scholarships in Calculus, Physics, Statistics and Chemistry. He was also a finalist in the New Zealand Physics and Mathematics Competition (NZPMC) in both 2024 and 2025, and was recognised at the Macleans College Scholars Assemblies for his Cambridge International Education achievements.
