Actors visit Macleans College

Posted on September 28, 2017

On Tuesday 26 September the drama studio was filled with students eager to meet Nancy Wallinger and Chris Neels, two actors based in London.

Nancy is a founding member of Mischief Theatre Company and has been performing in The Play That Goes Wrong. She and her company have won an Olivier Award in London’s West End and most recently a Tony Award on Broadway.

Chris is a past student of Macleans College (Rutherford House 2001 – 2005) who after studying at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama set up his own theatre company. One of his shows has just completed a successful run in Sydney.

Both senior and junior students asked plenty of interesting questions. They learnt how to get involved in the performance industry, how to remain resilient and the importance of the arts and drama for everyone.

Chris spoke about his journey to become an actor acknowledging Mrs Lesley Shepherd for his opportunities with the Sheilah Winn Festival.

This was the second ‘meet the actor’ event in 2017 made possible by Mrs Sue Neels. The time the actors take to speak to the students is very much appreciated.

The Play That Goes Wrong opens in Auckland at the ASB Waterfront Theatre on October 11.
