Achievement and encouragement highlight Special Olympics

The Special Olympics provides students in specialist education programmes with opportunities to compete in inclusive sporting events alongside peers from other schools.  More than 100 students participated, representing a range of schools.  The event was a positive and memorable experience for all involved.

Macleans College athletes competed in events such as the 100m run, 60m walk, mini javelin, relay and long jump.  Each participant gave 100 percent effort throughout the day.  All athletes received certificates for their track performances and several students achieved winning places in their races. The event celebrated students’ commitment and allowed them to showcase skills developed in physical education lessons.

The success of the event was supported by Macleans College student volunteers, who assisted with the organisation and delivery of activities. They encouraged participants and helped create a welcoming and inclusive environment.  Their teamwork and positive attitude reflected the strong values of Macleans College.  Event organisers and visiting staff also commended the volunteers for their contribution.
