Celebrating success, growth and team spirit in girls cricket
Posted on June 10, 2026
The Bentley Pavilion was filled with celebration, reflection and school spirit as the Macleans College girls cricket teams gathered for their annual prizegiving.
The event was particularly significant as it marked the first Girls Cricket Prizegiving held since 2019.
Players, coaches, families and supporters came together to recognise the hard work, growth and achievements of the 2026 Term 1 season.
The evening included a mihi whakatau, coaches' reports, captains' speeches, award presentations and a karakia to bless the food and conclude the formal proceedings. Throughout the night, a slideshow of photos played in the background, bringing back memories from matches, training sessions and Summer Tournament Week.
Following the formalities, players and families stayed to enjoy supper, take photos and reflect on the season. Alongside on-field achievements, the evening also celebrated the friendships and sense of belonging built throughout the year. The strong turnout from both the 1st XI and 2nd XI teams reflected the growing enthusiasm for girls cricket at Macleans College.
Awards presented during the evening recognised outstanding performances and contributions throughout the season.

At the conclusion of the event, both teams presented coaches Nick Gavigan and Miss Lal, along with managers Mrs Rawlings and Mrs Quarterman, with thank you cards and gifts in appreciation of their support and commitment throughout the season.
