Five Macleans College fencers participated over the weekend at the Fencing North U15 and U17 competition.

Held at Te Pai Events Centre in Waitakere, this event was a great way to begin the year with some impressive results achieved.

In the U15 Foil, Larry Lin (Batten House) took home the gold medal, the first gold medal for Macleans College in this category. Taking part in his first high school competition, Maxwell Chen (Upham) finished in seventh place.

In the U17 Foil, Eddy Zheng (Snell) earned a bronze medal. Larry Lin and Matt Wang (Mansfield) also participated, ending fifth and sixth respectively.

Sheldon Kou (Upham) brought home the first Epee medal for Macleans College, with a silver in the U17 division.

These results bode well for the future of Macleans College fencing, with many of the younger fencers performing to a high standard.
