Macleans College saw the departure of two experienced teachers last week, both of whom had taught at the school for thirty-two years.

Mrs Kenzie McConnel spent many years teaching in different faculties until eventually settling in the Science Faculty.  She was Deputy House Leader of Kupe House and was Mansfield House Leader for ten years. Her extra-curricular involvement included working on School Productions with the Backstage Crew and Costuming for many years. She also took on coaching and managing various Hockey teams including the First XI boys’ team. Mrs McConnel has been a loyal and dedicated teacher.

Mr Steve Lewis had a wide range of roles at Macleans College. He was Deputy House Leader of Te Kanawa, House Leader of Kupe, Head of Social Studies and Faculty Head of Social Science for fifteen years. Mr Lewis coached rugby for over thirty years, including the First XV. He started golf at the school. As a geography teacher he spent considerable time outside the classroom on field trips to Rotorua and Tongariro. His warmth and humour will be missed by his colleagues.
