North Island Secondary Schools Horse Trials 2021

On 21 May three riders travelled to the National Equestrian Centre in Taupo to compete in the North Island Secondary Schools Horse Trials.

The team was made up by Zalia Tornquist (Snell House) who competed in the 95 cm level of the competition and Sam Keane (Batten) and Charlotte Owen (Snell), who both competed in the 80 cm competition.

Unfortunately for the team, who in the past have been so successful, the weekend did not unfold well. Charlotte Owen suffered a terrible fall in the show jumping phase.

Shaken by their teammate’s accident, Zalia and Sam did exceptionally well to ride the cross country on the second day of the event and both produced clear rounds in their respective levels.
