Exceptional performance by students of Spanish at the National Spanish Debate Competition

Posted on June 24, 2019

Every year, the Spanish Teacher Association of New Zealand Aotearoa (STANZA) organises the National Spanish Debate competition.

On Friday 21 June, 16 teams of top performing students of Spanish came together at Northcote College in Auckland.

Macleans College entered two teams.  After a number of rounds of debates about topics such as deciding if electric scooters were to be banned from places other than parks, or if school cafeterias should sell food other than vegetarian, both teams performed incredibly well.

Macleans 2 team of Noor Radhi (Batten House), Angela Yang (Te Kanawa) and Terry Shen (Te Kanawa) finished in 4th position and Macleans 1 team of Eva Mountfort (Rutherford), Jasmine Davy (Hillary) and Michael Wang (Upham) finished 6th.

Eva Mountfort came 2nd as the best speaker of the competition.

Felicitaciones a los dos equipos.
