The Macleans College Chorale (MCC) travelled to Dunedin on 28 August to compete at the Big Sing Finale which was held at Dunedin’s Town Hall.

The 48 strong chorale was accompanied by a 10-piece chamber orchestra made up of Macleans College students and staff.

An action packed trip featured an open rehearsal at the St Kilda Band rooms, a performance at Dunedin’s Art Gallery, Ice Skating, a massed choir performance of 842 voices and the all important two recitals at the Big Sing Finale which were recorded live and broadcast online.

The chorale's first recital was part of recital 4 at the festival and included three works: Come Away with Me Sweet Love (Thomas Greaves), Set Me as a Seal (Rene Clausen) and Wade in the Water (Rob Dietz) that featured Avaneesh Belwalkar of Rutherford House.

The chorale’s second recital was part of the final session, recital 8 and featured two newly commissioned works by Katherine Bell, E Mihi Atu (soloists; Danielle Tweedale of Rutherford House, Michelle Delves of Hillary, Hayatt Al Joborry of Mansfield and Timothy Lim of Mansfield) and Ka Mua, Ka Muri.
