A group of Year 11 Macleans College students earnt the opportunity to explore the world of neuroscience alongside students from across the North Island as part of the Brain Bee competition.
The competition, run by the Centre for Brain Research at the University of Auckland, took place throughout Terms 1 and 2.
The top nine Macleans College students were selected to visit the Medical School in Grafton for a day of learning and discovery. They attended presentations on brain research and neurological conditions, tested their knowledge in quizzes and toured a range of laboratories as well as the Medical Sciences Learning Centre.
The visit also gave students the chance to meet participants from other schools and learn more about the work of scientists and researchers in the field of neuroscience.
The experience provided valuable insight into the study of the brain and introduced students to potential future pathways in medical and scientific research.
