Macleans College Interact Club rally behind Cystic Fibrosis New Zealand

Posted on July 15, 2026

More than 40 Macleans College students gave up part of their weekend to support people living with cystic fibrosis, raising more than $700 during a community bucket collection in Howick Village.

Their efforts not only generated vital funds but also helped raise awareness.

The fundraiser was organised by the Macleans College Interact Club, which has more than 200 student members. Throughout the year, club members take part in a range of community service initiatives and fundraising projects that support organisations including Totara Hospice and Cystic Fibrosis New Zealand.

Against the lively backdrop of the Saturday markets, student volunteers braved the winter weather to connect with shoppers and encourage donations. Their enthusiasm and commitment were warmly received by the local community.

The funds raised will help Cystic Fibrosis New Zealand continue supporting individuals and families living with cystic fibrosis, advocating for better access to healthcare and funding research into new treatments.
