Macleans College has been a very good time for me, both academically and recreationally.

During my stay, I was given many chances to explore my interests; for instance, I was given guitar lessons by the school upon registering my interest.  As a result of this, and in addition to my social connections at school, I was able to form a band which was an interesting and enjoyable thing, and we had actually performed at school which was quite exciting.

I also had the chance to start playing tennis, start kayaking and fishing, all of which are things I've never done and I'm glad I've tried them because they really do help me keep a balanced life.

Since Macleans College is such an academic school, I was able to keep myself challenged throughout my stay, whether it be through doing scholarship exams or other external competitions. This year, for instance, thanks to my interest in sitting the scholarship English exam, I learned to better articulate myself and think in a more nuanced way; this was incredibly useful for my mathematical classes despite their seeming disjunction and unrelatedness.

The curriculum taught in class itself is not hard, however, teachers are quite willing to engage in further discussions of the topic, I found this quite useful for my understanding of the subject matters.

The particularities of how Macleans College has changed who I am as a person can be another discussion of its own but I would say that I am definitely more mature and have more depth as a person than I was two years ago when I came to Macleans College. Indeed Macleans College is a good environment, but I would say it is just as much, if not more important to have an open mindset and be willing to try new things.
