The Macleans College Gala Evening to launch the Jubilee Projects - Friday 1 March 2002

Unfortunately this function had to be cancelled, but we thank those people who purchased tickets to attend and those who also so generously donated towards the projects. We hope to have a social occasion/information evening in the near future regarding the projects, and planning for them continues. Thank you to the PTA who provided support for the planned 1 March function. It is appreciated.

Macleans College Open Evening - Wednesday 13 February

This was very well attended and parents and family had an opportunity to view the school and its facilities and talk to whanau house leaders and staff.

Form 3 Parent Interview Evening

This evening will be held on Thursday 21 March between 4.00 pm and 6.30 pm. It is an evening to give parents an early indication of how their son/daughter is settling in at the beginning of their secondary school education. Parents are encouraged to take the opportunity to see both Form Teacher and House Leader, who are the only teachers available on the night.

A booking sheet will be sent home with interim reports on Tuesday 19 March for appointment times.

School Athletic Preliminaries and Championship Meeting

The preliminaries were held at school, and the meetings involved all students in an array of events as they gained house points in attempting to qualify for the finals on Thursday 14 February.

The Championship meeting was held at Lloyd Elsmore athletic track and was very successful. Thanks in particular for all the meetings go to Mr Fotherby, Mr O’Dea, and a number of staff including our property and grounds staff.

1st XI Boys’ Cricket

The team had a very successful trip to Melbourne, and played a number of schools involved in the one-day tournament. They were runners-up. In the Gillette Cup knockout game played against Rangitoto Macleans College came out winners, but lost the second round game to Kings. Recently the team secured its first win in the Premier Grade of the ASS competition when they defeated the Westlake Boys 1st XI.

School Bus Routes and Times

The Howick and Eastern Bus Company services our school bus routes. They have adjusted their timetable to cater for our earlier start. All in-zone students should, if they wish, be able to catch a bus to arrive at school on time. The bus company has also done its best for out-of-zone students, however, bus routes and times may not automatically suit students living out of zone.

Parking Offences

Manukau City Council Parking Enforcement has advised us that due to the continuing rise in illegal and dangerous parking at schools, they will be doing regular school enforcement patrols. They ask us to let our parents know the following:

Parking Officers will no longer be asking parents/guardians to move vehicles from illegal parking areas, but will instead be issuing infringement notices in respect of the offence and will then post tickets out to the registered owner of the vehicle.

We would ask parents please to drop students off a little distance away from the school entrance, where it is safe to stop. Stopping on the broken yellow lines, on corners and roundabouts to drop off students is illegal, and can be dangerous to students and other road users, and these are the types of offences that will be targeted.

We would also ask parents NOT to drive into the school carparks located at the Priestley Drive roundabout and at the main entrance to the school as this causes danger to students entering the school on foot. Your co-operation would be very much appreciated.
