Netball

Macleans have eight teams playing in the Auckland netball competition this year. The teams start the season playing grading games. Last Saturday theses games were played in terrible conditions. The two year 9 teams playing in their first matches in this competition came up against some strong competition, although they both lost, they worked hard throughout their games. 10A played against Onehunga 1. In their first game with a new team for the competition we proved strong early in the season with a 46-3 win. Well done to all the girls - it was pretty to watch and the whole team did us proud. Our 10B team won 27–5 against Onehunga 2. The team worked brilliantly together, and showed real strength, especially in the mid court. This was a fabulous start to the season. The Senior C team had a successful start with a 15-9 win against Mt Albert - they certainly enjoyed playing the game inside! Senior B team had a 17–7 win against Corran. Well done to you all.

On Monday 4 May the Premier and Senior A teams played three games each. Senior A team played well but went down by two goals in each of their games against Diocesan and Botany. In their last game against Mt Roskill, the girls came out very determined which resulted in a 26-17 win. The Premier team had a very successful night winning the first game against St Marys 20-8 and the second game against Mt Roskill 36-3. They then played Baradene and raised their game to only lose by one goal right on full time whistle 25-24. These girls do not now have to grade anymore because of these excellent results and will play in the Auckland Premier netball division this year again.
