Congratulations to Sasha Smith from Rutherford who has been selected to compete in the New Zealand Cross Country U19 Women’s team at the World Mountain Biking Championships in Canberra in September. Congratulations also to Matthew Wheatcroft from Snell and Sam Lindsay from Te Kanawa for both being selected in the Under 19 team to represent New Zealand in the Kowalski Tour of Canberra in July.

Congratulations to the following two students for achieving their athletics badges. Alan Watt from Kupe – Blue Badge (1st Year) and Gina Morrissey from Snell – Silver Badge (3 years).

At the time trials held down at the waterfront last weekend Macleans Junior A placed 2nd with a time of 23.49.

Basketball

Premier Girls made a real team effort where everyone played their part and were rewarded with a very high 111-62 win against Tangaroa College. The team were cohesive and never lost focus of their game. They defended strongly and drove strongly through the court maintaining good flow of the ball.
Premier Boys played a tremendously dominant game against Howick College resulting in a 72-26 win. Top scorers were Tyron Garratt 18, Brandon Lipman 26, Elim Chan 10 and Adam Hrstich leading the steals with 6.
U19 Boys Macleans won against King's College 36-27.
U17 Boys Macleans won 58-27 against Pakuranga 2. The boys had a great first half destroying Pakuranga’s offense. Great all round attack and defence led to this win.
U17 Girls Macleans won 29-22 against Howick College. This was a physical and well fought game. Special mention goes to Lauren Green, as she dominated the court.
U15 Boys beat Howick 59-36. An under strength team produced an outstanding effort taking charge of the game from the outset, scoring numerous points with slashing drives to the basket. Predominant both offensively and defensively were Lee-Ning Yap, Kevin Kim and Himiona Ihaka.

1st XV beat Dilworth 44 to 31. Player of the Day Nat Turner scored 3 tries, Darren Wilson scored 2 tries, Sam Busbridge and Anthony Stevens scored tries. Alex Morrison kicked 3 conversions and a penalty.
7A had a massive win over St Kentigern at St Kentigern with Xerxes Sukhia giving an impressive captains display and scoring the games first try following a complete rolling of the St Kentigern forward pack by Macleans impressive tight 5. Riki McGregor felt fresh after a sleep in and arrived in time for the second half. Riki was on the receiving end of an impressive William Gleeson pass to score and convert his own try. Macleans 12 St Kentigern 7.

Premier and Central A Grade Results
Friday 5 June
Premier Grade - a very good display secured another 6-0 win. Howard Chou did a good job of ignoring his knee injury as he wore down his singles opponent and Samuel Ho put on another excellent performance in his singles encounter. Victoria Cheng and Novita Stokes were commanding in both their doubles and singles matches.
Central A1 - another convincing 6-0 win, this time against Auckland Grammar. Matthew Chan’s skill and determination earned him a single’s win with a score of 21-20.
Central A2 - a very good 5-1 win over Glendowie. James Cai did very well against his singles opponent to secure a 21-18 win.
Wednesday 3 June, Lloyd Elsmore
Macleans had another great day with three teams again delivering decisive wins.
B1 beat Otahuhu College 6-0.
C1 beat Otahuhu College 1 6-0.
C2 beat Tamaki College 6-0.
East Zone - 4th and 5th round of competition yielded the following results in Friday’s competition.
B1 finished their pool games unbeaten. Players of note were Venus Wong and Sunny Ha.
B2 won both their last pool games 6-0 and finished second in their pool. Players of the day were Kenneth Sue and Tommy Lai.

Soccer - Boys
<empty>
Macleans College Boys’ 1st XI Football team lost 2-0 at home to Auckland Grammar 1st XI on Saturday 6 June.

Soccer - Girls
<empty>
The 1st X1 girls had another win to cement their place at the top of the table. Wednesday’s game against Rosehill was a game of two halves with Macleans dominating the second half to come away with a 2–1 win. Great goals went to Sarah Blyde and Sonia Lovemore.
2nd XI defeated Botany College 2-1. Goal scorers were Zoe Puttick and Deena Yousif.
