Two rowers from Macleans College have been named in the North Island U18 Trial Squad.

Peter Byllemos and Scott Aitchison are expected to attend the trials to be held in Cambridge over the Easter break. Murari Ramesh has also been named as a coxswain. Twenty three boys and 20 girls have been selected.

The announcement follows the New Zealand Secondary Schools Rowing Championships held at Twizel in the South Island last week and last weekend.

Here the Girls’ U18 Lightweight Coxed Fours of Zoe Moore, Brooklyn Phillips, Kendra Page, Zoe Hortop and coxswain Mariam Al-Jawad gained a creditable 3rd place in the finals.

The U18 Boys gained 6th place in their finals in the Maadi Cup. Their performance has been described as top level with only seconds between the competing schools and this team was the only co-educational school to contest the final.

Five teams made the A finals with three at U18 level, one and U17 and one at U15. Five teams made the B finals.
