A top academic student at Macleans College, Michael Tzu Min Wang, has won silver at the 2010 Australian Mathematical Olympiad.

A total of 118 students participated in the Olympiad with New Zealand students participating for the first time. <empty>

Twelve students gained gold and eighteen achieved silver placing Michael among the highest achievers. One New Zealand student gained gold and seven gained silver.

Michael recently achieved Top-in-the-World in AS Level Chemistry and Physics in the Cambridge International Examinations. He achieved 98 in AS Mathematics, 97 in AS Physics, 96 in AS Biology, 95 in AS Chemistry and 95 in IGCSE English.
<empty>
The Year 12 student has also been selected for the New Zealand International Mathematics Olympiad training squad that will compete at Kazakhstan in July.
<empty>
He was one of the top twenty-four students to be invited to attend the residential Mathematics Olympiad training camp held in Christchurch. The New Zealand team will be announced next month.
<empty>
Michael has gained his ATCL in piano performance and this year he will prepare for the LTCL examination through Trinity College in London.
